Among his cherished memories from Charleston Catholic, he fondly recalled receiving homework help from classmates, highlighting his charm and ability to build relationships. College football opened new doors for Tommy, allowing him to travel extensively, inspire student athletes, and eventually transition into coaching. He had the opportunity to recruit and help young talent, continuing their growth both on and off the field. One of the most significant lessons he learned from his loved ones was the importance of striving for excellence. His motivation encouraged others to pursue their best selves in whatever profession they chose. Tommy Groom spent his entire life immersed in the world of football, beginning as the captain of Charleston Catholic High School. Over his career, he participated in nine bowl games and concluded his professional journey by managing the sale of football practice gear with Gilman Gear.
